Kaffeeklatsch mit Wissenschaft

Get ready for exciting insights into research while enjoying a cup of coffee in relaxed atmosphere. Everyone is welcome to ask questions and contribute to the discussion!

This time, "Kaffeeklatsch" presenter Franziska Sattler herself reports on her research. Before the premiere of the event series in August, Franziska worked on the dentition and skull anatomy of T. rex Tristan Otto and recently published her research results together with colleagues from the Museum of Natural History Berlin. The bones of the skull are among the best preserved ones on the skeleton of Tristan Otto. These bones could be examined with the help of computed tomography at the Charité Berlin, so that one can recognize their interior without destroying anything. With the help of these recordings Franziska Sattler and co-author Dr. Daniela Schwarz examined how Tristan's teeth grew. Scientists already knew before that the teeth of the predatory dinosaur grew back. How exactly this process took place, however, has now been described for the first time.

If you want to learn more about Tristan's teeth, we would like to welcome you to our Experimental Field for Participation and Open Science on 1 December!
