Panel discussion: Underwater noise and its effects in the polar regions

Humboldt-Pinguin
bis

Underwater noise is ubiquitous in the world's oceans these days. Even in the sensitive ecosystems of the Arctic and Antarctic, man-made noise, e.g. through increasing shipping, has long since arrived.

In the “Week against Noise in the Sea” as part of our cooperation project “Hearing in Penguins” on April 27th, 2021 with representatives from science, politics and industry, we will discuss what effects anthropogenic noise has on the underwater world, but also what possible solutions already there.
