Citizen Science

Strengthening the dialogue between science and society

What is Citizen Science?

Citizen science enables interested people to actively participate in scientific projects. Whether it involves making observations in nature, analyzing data, or interpreting results—all participants are part of the research and, together with scientists, generate new knowledge. Diverse experiences and perspectives are incorporated, and different forms of knowledge are combined; every project is unique.

Water change, water scarcity, water pollution: How is water in your surroundings changing?

Show us what moves you when it comes to water, and tell us your story! We’re looking for photos or videos of things, places, or events where you notice changes in water in Berlin and Brandenburg. How does it affect your daily life? What can be done?

Your contribution will become part of a digital collection at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin that brings together different voices on water change in Berlin and Brandenburg. It serves as a foundation for new ideas, discussions, and informs political decisions for a just water future.

Changing Natures. Collecting the Anthropocene Together

Apple trees are blossoming earlier, butterflies are getting rarer and cities are spilling out into the countryside: What has happened? How has your environment changed? What can personal items or historical objects tell us about these transformations?
Contribute your object and your story to help us understand environmental change and the challenges of the future. Join us as we create a new kind of collection!
