Bats are surprisingly diverse: they hunt in complete darkness, pollinate plants and inhabit almost every habitat on Earth.
Marisa Tietge’s talk invites you to discover their fascinating adaptations, ways of life and their importance for biodiversity.
Within the museum’s Evolutionary Ethology research group, we investigate how behaviour, communication and cognition evolve in the animal kingdom. Bats are our most important model system in this research. A particular focus is on studying acoustic communication, social interactions and learning processes in the field.
