Discover, marvel, get involved: as part of the neighbourhood festival, our museum invites you to take part in an exciting self-guided treasure hunt – set off on a journey of discovery through the Natural History Museum! You’ll also have the chance to have your own minerals and stones identified by our experts and learn more about your finds.

The MuseumsMeileMitte connects the Futurium, the Hamburger Bahnhof – National Gallery of Contemporary Art, the Charité Museum of the History of Medicine, and the Museum of Natural History to form a shared urban space in the heart of Berlin. Between Invalidenpark and Humboldthafen, a network of museums, businesses and the local community is taking shape. The MuseumsMeileMitte invites you to discover and help shape this urban space together. Step by step, an open meeting place is emerging where familiar things can be seen in a new light and the unexpected can be discovered.

Mineral and rock identification
Do you own a rock or mineral and would like to find out more about it? Our experts at the Mineral Bazaar will be happy to help you identify it or assist you in acquiring your personal favourite.
Stand in the Mineral Hall, 10 am – 6 pm
Stories about nature – live speakers in the exhibitions
In the exhibitions, our museum guides will share fascinating facts about our museum objects and the diversity of life. They will introduce the famous T. rex Tristan Otto, the over 13-metre-tall Giraffatitan, the Archaeopteryx and the impressive biodiversity wall. In the special exhibition ‘Migratory Birds’, visitors can also explore the museum’s historic bird collection.

Museum Rally – Independent discovery tour through the Museum of Natural History
With this treasure hunt, children and families can explore the museum on their own. Questions provide clues to the objects being sought and thus guide visitors through the individual exhibition areas.

The Diversity of Insects – Hands-on activity in front of the museum
The Museum of Natural History invites you to discover Berlin’s insect world. Equipped with an insect bingo sheet, children and adults can set off on their own in the garden in front of the museum to find as many insects as possible. Microscopes are also available at an information stand. With the help of our guides, visitors can observe various insects from Berlin’s urban nature up close and examine them in more detail.
