Entomology

The entomological sub-collections comprise several million specimens from all major groups of insects. They document the diversity of insects in their various modes of life and developmental forms, and form a central foundation for taxonomic, evolutionary and ecological research.

The collections have been assembled from around the world over more than 200 years and contain extensive type specimens. They serve as a reference for the scientific description and identification of species and enable long-term comparisons across regions and time periods.
