Mineralogy
Minerals, rocks and meteorites provide insights into the formation of the Earth and our solar system.
The Mineralogy Collection ranks among the most significant geoscience collections in Europe. It brings together minerals, rocks and meteorites, documenting processes within the Earth’s interior as well as events in the solar system. Historical specimens dating back to the early days of natural history research sit alongside modern research samples.
The collection is divided into three sub-collections. Together, they form a central infrastructure for mineralogy, petrology, deposit research and impact research.
