The goal of the European Citizen Science (ECS) project is to create a strong, inclusive, and globally connected citizen science community, while promoting citizen science as a valuable research approach for scientific excellence and sustainable development in Europe.
For the steadily growing citizen science community in Europe, the project serves as a networking hub, information platform, and advocate by representing its interests to decision-makers, fostering transnational exchange of experience and knowledge, and consolidating existing resources.
The project’s activities include networking events, capacity-building and training opportunities, technical support for citizen science projects, and discussion formats with political actors. In addition, ECS further develops the web platform created by its predecessor project (eu-citizen.science), which provides information and resources on citizen science in Europe.
Partners
The ECS project consortium comprises 21 partners from a total of 15 countries and is coordinated by the European Citizen Science Association. The ECS Ambassador Programme also brings together 28 citizen science experts from EU Member States and the UK who advocate for citizen science at the national level.
