Ich beschäftige mich mit der evolutionären Entwicklung des Skeletts bei Vögeln – insbesondere damit, wie sich die zahlreichen Knochen eines Küken zu den wenigen komplexen Strukturen im Skelett eines erwachsenen Vogels zusammenwachsen, wie sich dies zwischen den Arten unterscheidet und wie sich dieser Prozess aus der Entwicklung der Dinosaurier heraus entwickelt hat.

    Postnatal ontogenetic patterns within the Avialae (Dinosauria, Theropoda)

    The aim of the project is to analyse ontogenetic changes in modern birds in the context of phylogeny, ecology and modes of development. By comparing them with fossil protobirds and predatory dinosaurs, the project investigates the role of heterochronic developmental shifts in the origin of birds.
