Together with my colleague Astrid Faber, I have been heading the education and outreach department since 2025. As a scientist, I have been responsible for the educational research department since 2015. In this area, I lead numerous national and international research projects on understanding science, experience of nature and knowledge about evolution.

Between science and society: Argumentation on socio-scientific issues in the special exhibition “ZUGvögel”
Through the exhibition *ZUGvögel*, pupils from a partner school in Berlin are learning how to present scientific arguments on socially relevant issues – with academic support from the museum.
