I am co-director of the Amniota Lab. My research focuses on the evolution of large mammals, particularly herbivores, as well as the development of modern ecosystems. My work is primarily based on the exploration and study of sites in Africa, the Mediterranean region, and the Middle East. I currently lead the ERC-funded PALEONILE project, which focuses on ancient fauna, habitats, archaeology, and human evolution in the Nile Basin of Sudan.
