I investigate the palaeontologically productive Pleistocene alluvial sediments of the middle Atbara Valley in eastern Sudan. Using an integrated approach that combines detailed field investigations with a suite of laboratory analyses—including grain-size analysis, micromorphology, carbonate content determination, X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), stable carbon (δ¹³C) and oxygen (δ¹⁸O) isotope analyses, framework petrography, and heavy-mineral analysis—my research reconstructs the palaeoenvironmental conditions and evolution of the Atbara River in eastern Sudan during the Middle to Late Pleistocene.
