Ich studierte von 1981 bis 1987 Chemie und Geologie-Paläontologie in Düsseldorf und Mainz. Als Diplom-Geologe schloss ich 1991 meine Promotion an der Johannes-Gutenberg Universität Mainz ab. 1996 begann meine Tätigkeit als Kurator in den wirbeltierpaläontologischen Sammlungen am Museum für Naturkunde. 2003 habilitierte ich an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in den Fächern Paläobiologie und Zoologie. 2021 folgte die Umhabilitation zum Fachbereich Geowissenschaften an der Freien Universität Berlin.
Weiteres
Während meiner Dozentur an der Humboldt-Universität vertrat ich die Bereiche Vergleichende Anatomie und Paläobiologie der Wirbeltiere. Seit meinem Wechsel zur Freien Universität lehre ich Wirbeltierpaläontologie und Erdgeschichte.
