The twin budget 2020/21 for the capital has been increased again by almost 200 million euros. The Museum für Naturkunde Berlin will receive 500,000 euros annually from this. The Leibniz Institute for Evolutionary and Biodiversity Research will use this money to offer guests free admission to the exhibitions and special exhibitions. For example, on 5 January and 2 February 2020, the Humboldt Intervention can still be visited free of charge.
"We are delighted that visitors will benefit directly from the money," says Managing Director Stephan Junker. General Director Johannes Vogel adds: "With well over 700,000 guests in 2019, we are one of the most visited museums in Berlin. We take our public mission seriously; 16% of our guests have already seen our exhibitions free of charge. The fact that we can now expand this offer is in line with our strategy of being an integrated and open research museum."
