On Tuesday, 26 January 2021, despite the closed exhibition, pupils can take part in a trip at Museum für Naturkunde Berlin – digitally. Guide Sebastian Demtröder and “TikTok teacher” Robin Grimm invite them to a joint research trip to the highlights of the exhibition on the museum's TikTok channel.
Digital guided tour
Exhibits such as the Biodiversity Wall with over 3,000 prepared animal species, the dermoplastic of Panda Bao Bao or the highest mounted dinosaur skeleton in the world tell learners about the evolution of life, the biodiversity on earth and research on it. However, due to the current closure of the exhibition, no school trips to the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin can take place.
In order to make knowledge about nature and the research collection with over 30 million specimens accessible to them, the museum has been operating its own channel on TikTok since May 2020. With over 21,000 followers, it is one of the museum accounts with the greatest reach in German-speaking countries.
Together with Robin Grimm, "TikTok teacher" from Berlin with more than 965,000 followers, the museum is now expanding its digital offer for children and families in the form of a digital school trip. Viewers can ask their questions via chat. Robin Grimm will take part in the tour from the home and pass on the most exciting questions from the community.
