How can changes in our environment be brought into the museum? How can you collect personal perceptions and stories of environmental change? We are looking for your stories and your objects to start a collection experiment.

We want to venture new research approaches to better understand the relationship between humans and nature. For this reason, the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin is developing an experimental and open collection together with the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle Paris - and we need You to support us.

The planned collection, in the form of an online platform, will present everyday objects associated with personal stories about the changing relationship between us and nature. The platform will be openly accessible and continously grow - in order to initiate a scientific exchange about questions that concern us all. But before that happens, we want to learn more about how to best share and tell these kind of stories.

What we are looking for is an object

  • that you have a personal relationship to,
  • that is from the past, i.e. is at least a few years old,
  • that for you tells something about the relationship between humans and the environment how that relationship might have changed over time.

Does that sound exciting? Do you already have an idea? Great! All you have to do is decide on an object and sign up. In the online workshop, you will be presenting your object to the other participants (e.g. in the form of a photo, a text, or a sound recording). By exchanging about the presented objects, we will gain amazing insights - and not only share and write exciting stories, but perhaps also a bit of history.
