Inspiration Workshops Collection Development

As part of the project "Involving social actors in the planning phase of major research projects", funded by the Leibniz Open Science Research Association, four workshops were held at the Museum für Naturkunde in June 2019, which involved various stakeholder groups and the general public in the development of a development concept for the museum's collection. The aim is to gain as many perspectives as possible on the collection and the various interests of its users.

The moderation was carried out by employees of the Museum für Naturkunde from the field of collection cataloguing and digitisation. The participants were given a look behind the scenes through a role play with various stations in the collections. Afterwards, each guest had the opportunity to contribute his or her own ideas on the digitisation of the collections in the Museum für Naturkunde.

Through direct participation, conditions were created for experiencing and taking into account the needs of different areas of application in the development of the collection. The organisation of the events and the subsequent analysis of the information collected there will help to enable a comprehensive and multi-dimensional collection development.
