Volunteers give invaluable support to the Museum – in particular in the collections comprising 30 million precious items. We would like to thank those who share their time, knowledge and joy with us and would be happy to welcome you as a volunteer.
Classical fields of activity include
- Sorting, stock-taking and labelling of collection items
- Entering data into databases
- Research and for specialists, work on certain groups or sub-collections in our scientific collections.
The use of volunteers depends on their subject knowledge, their particular wishes and the options our collections have to offer. So far, we have always been successful in matching the right person to the appropriate task.
If you are interested in volunteer work in the Museum’s collections, please turn to the secretariat of the research unit Collection development and Biodiversity discovery. Give a brief introduction of yourself and the tasks and work areas you are interested in as well as how much time you would like to spend volunteering.
Other parts of the Museum may have vacancies for volunteers from to time, but not on a regular basis. If you are interested in a particular area or would like to make your specialist knowledge and abilities available to us, please send us a short email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your email will then be forwarded to the relevant departments.
