Gesellschaft Naturforschender Freunde zu Berlin

Promoting natural history has been and still is the major raison d’etre of the Gesellschaft Naturforschender Freunde zu Berlin, (Society of of Naturalist Friends in Berlin), of which Alexander v. Humboldt was once a member. The Society established collections and provided funding for expeditions such as the Tendaguru/Tansania excavations. An annual lecture on scientific topics for the wider public takes place at the feet of the dinosaurs excavated there. The lecture series was initiated by the Museum and the Society.

Information on the Society and membership can be found on the Society’s website.
