On 18 June 2024 in Berlin, the Museum für Naturkunde was honoured as one of 306 organisations for its family and life-phase-conscious HR policy at the 26th berufundfamilie certificate award ceremony. The organisation has been shaping this since 2011 and 2015 with the berufundfamilie audit - the strategic management tool that initiates and controls a sustainable work-life balance process.
In recognition of its long-standing commitment to work-life balance, the museum was awarded the certificate with distinction. All employees at the museum can benefit from measures to promote work-life balance, such as family rooms and sports programmes. The equality policy objectives continue to be closely linked to the guiding principle of family friendliness.
With the current certificate, the Museum für Naturkunde is able to look back on three successful audits and a dialogue process that is open to organisations that have been involved in the audit for at least nine years to create a work environment that promotes compatibility. Ms Marlies Steininger, Head of SE Human Resources and Project Manager of the berufundfamilie audit, received the fourth berufundfamilie audit certificate from Prof. Dr. Dr. Helmut Schnei-der, holder of the SVI Endowed Chair of Marketing and Dialogue Marketing at Steinbeis University and Certification Officer of the berufundfamilie Board of Trustees, and Oliver Schmitz, Managing Director of berufundfamilie Service GmbH. The aim of the dialogue process is to maintain the high level of development of family and life-phase-conscious personnel policy and to exploit the potential for optimisation in individual selected areas.
As part of the re-audit "dialogue procedure", the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin continues to strive to consolidate the effective measures developed so far and to develop new suitable instruments for a family-conscious and life-phase-oriented personnel policy.orientated personnel policy. By implementing these measures, the aim is to attract even more attention from qualified applicants, increase employee job satisfaction and enhance loyalty to the museum. In the area of personnel development, the flexibility, transparency and information already introduced are to be expanded even further, particularly for young scientists and employees in all phases of life. The audit berufundfamilie is intended to position the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin as an attractive employer both within the Leibniz Association and to the general public.
