THERE IS NO PLANET B - Climate strike in film and discussion.
“Aufschrei der Jugend”

Following the Global Climate Strike on 3 March 2023, the Netzwerk Naturwissen will show the film "Aufschrei der Jugend" ("Youth Outcry") at the museum and then discuss with the director Kathrin Pitterling, representatives of Fridays for Future Willi Schwope and Louis Motaal, as well as with Timothée Ingen-Housz (Berlin University of the Arts and member of the network), for example, which forms of protest we can use to draw attention to the current environmental crises. We want to discuss how images work here more precisely and what significance their public perception has for socio-politically issues.  Which new stories can be told to get into action?

“Aufschrei der Jugend – Fridays for Future Inside“. An extraordinarily intimate portrait of young climate activists

In 2020, Corona is shaking up world affairs. The climate crisis? It's been pushed out of the public discourse! The young activists of Fridays for Future see themselves deprived of their most effective forms of protest. But they are not backing down. They tirelessly search for new ways to get politicians to rethink. But there is a hail of hostility from the right and the internal psychological pressure is immense. Director Kathrin Pitterling succeeds in her documentary film "Aufschrei der Jugend" ("Youth Outcry") with a spectacular look inside Fridays for Future. She wins the trust of her wonderful young protagonists and captures them in their most daring and vulnerable moments. The result is an inspiring narrative of the dreams, fears, successes and setbacks of a committed generation.

Guests

Kathrin Pitterling
"I am interested in what moves people. What is the secret of their strength and creativity? What challenges do those of us who live convictions and passions unconditionally struggle with?"

Timothée Ingen-Housz explores the communication of complexity, particularly that of environmental and sustainability issues. He explores the potential of art, comics, films, news, series, games, graphics and more - anything potentially narrative - to communicate complex information and engage audiences in their own discoveries.

Willi Schwope has been an active member of Fridays for Future since the beginning of the movement and is one of the protagonists of the film. Among other things, he gave a speech for FFF at the annual general meeting of Mercedes-Benz Group AG in 2019, in which he challenged the then CEO: "Mr. Zetsche, we demand climate-neutral mobility from Daimler!".

Louis Motaal is an activist and networker at Fridays for Future and also a protagonist of the film. Through his involvement with FFF, Plant for Planet and Greenpeace, he has extensive activist expertise and knowledge of the power of images and narration. He moderated the online strike during the first lockdown with the visually powerful poster action in front of the Bundestag.

The event will be moderated by Anna Schunk (http://viertel-vor.com).

Pupils (with verification) have free admission to the museum on 03.03.2023 as part of the global climate strike.
