The event language is German.
Your Input Matters: We are gathering diverse voices on the changing water situation in Berlin and Brandenburg and exchanging ideas with decision-makers from politics and administration.
Water is a key issue for the future of Berlin: A growing population is leading to increasing volumes of drinking water and wastewater. At the same time, the climate crisis and the phase-out of coal mining pose major challenges for Berlin's water supply.
The Masterplan Wasser (Water Master Plan) of the State of Berlin and the joint Wasserstrategie Hauptstadtregion 2050 (Water Strategy Capital Region 2050) of the states of Berlin and Brandenburg are responding to these challenges. However, it is also clear that this can only be achieved together with the citizens of Berlin and Brandenburg.
Event Schedule
Over the course of two sessions that build upon each other, we will discuss central questions regarding the future of water in Berlin and Brandenburg, giving you the chance to actively contribute your own perceptions to political processes.
09.02.2026: Focus on Challenges How is the water situation in Berlin and Brandenburg changing due to climate change, the coal phase-out, and population growth? We will provide information on the basics, the Masterplan Wasser, and the Wasserstrategie Hauptstadtregion 2050.
16.02.2026: Your Perspective is Needed What concerns you regarding the topic of water? Where are you affected by changes in your everyday life? What can be done? We invite you to take photos or videos of things, places, or events where you notice the changes in water in Berlin and Brandenburg, and to contribute these to a digital collection at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. The collection displays and connects different opinions, interests, and conflicts regarding regional water changes in Berlin and Brandenburg. In the workshop, we will use the contributions that you upload in advance to www.naturderdinge.de to discuss how you experience the changing water situation.
