Press release,

At the annual Girls‘ Day, fifty girls were welcomed Dr. Giffey and Director General Prof. Johannes Vogel in the Museum’s Dinosaur Hall on April 26th. Both then accompanied the girls on their guided tour of the scientific collection of fossil vertebrates, which includes the original Brachiosaurus skull. Palaeontologist Dr. Daniela Schwarz, whose passion for dinosaurs dates from her childhood, introduced the girls to her work. They were given the opportunity to view dinosaur teeth under a microscope.

Both the Minister and Director General Johannes Vogel are convinced that it is important to overcome gender clichés and foster enthusiasm for science, whether by offering microscopy classes, excursions into nature or events such as the Long Night of Sciences.
In addition, the Girls‘ Day gives young girls the opportunity to forge first contacts with Museum staff when visiting labs and scientific collections. They are also given an insight into professions at the Museum where women are still under-represented.
