Press release,

The Museum für Naturkunde Berlin fell victim to a targeted cyber attack in mid-October, affecting large parts of our digital infrastructure.

The museum has filed a complaint and the Berlin State Criminal Police Office is investigating the cyber attack.

Please note the information on data protection.

An internal crisis team is working together with several forensic service providers to clean up and rebuild the systems. Emergency operation ensures the museum's most important services. This emergency operation will be gradually expanded.

However, the majority of the approximately 450 employees, particularly from the three research areas, are currently only able to work to a limited extent and cannot be reached by email. At the moment we cannot yet predict exactly when the relevant systems will be available again; we will provide ongoing information on this website.

The museum visit is not affected and continues to operate without any particular restrictions. Tickets can be purchased in the online ticket shop and at the ticket offices on site. Tours and children’s birthday parties that have already been booked will take place.

The museum can currently be reached by email (info@mfn.berlin) and by telephone Mon. – Fri. from 9:00 to 17:00 via 030 889140 8591. Educational programmes can be booked via bildung@mfn.berlin.
