Creating knowledge

Creating knowledge

Our mission is to discover and describe life and earth – with people, through dialogue. As an excellent research museum and innovative communication center, our emphasis is on learning and knowledge exchange. We therefore experiment with different formats to engage in dialogue with multiple groups.

In numerous interdisciplinary research collaborations, our scientists work with researchers worldwide to create new knowledge. In the Center for Integrative Biodiversity Discovery, new, efficient methods of biodiversity discovery are developed, tested and applied in close cooperation with researchers worldwide, and numerous still unknown species are described.

The socio-historical and social contexts of past and present biodiversity research practices are explored and reflected in a multi-perspective, interdisciplinary, and collaborative way. These insights provide an important knowledge base for innovative and collaborative research as well as outreach projects.
