Exploring the museum on your own
There are various materials available for children and families to explore the museum and the exhibition areas on their own. Our discovery sheets, the museum rallies and much more are available here. Only in German!
Unfortunately, on-site educational programmes are currently not available at the museum.
Open Microscopy Centre
The Microscopy Centre is open every Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., as well as at special events, where visitors are free to use the microscopes and find out what issues scientists are trying to resolve at a natural history research museum. Visitors can bring in and study their own finds and objects.

Guided Tours for Families
This tour introduces visitors to the highlights of the exhibitions: the 13-metre-high Giraffatitan skeleton, the primeval bird Archaeopteryx, Knut the Polar Bear and the amazing biodiversity wall.
- Dates: every Saturday and Sunday, 12:30 p.m. & 2:00 p.m. / during Berlin’s autumn, winter and Easter holidays daily, 12.30 p.m. and 2.00 p.m.
- Cost: only available in German €4.00 / reduced: €2.00, for 45 min
- tickets at the box office only, limited number of places available, no pre-booking
Long Days – Long Nights
