Press release,

After two intensive and successful years, the educational project Chancen bilden in Berlin – Bildungsökosystem "Museum in der Schule" will conclude at the end of July 2025. Initiated by the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin (MfN) and funded by the Deutsche Telekom Stiftung, the project has closely connected schools and the museum – with the goal of permanently esatablishing the museum as an innovative, extracurricular learning space within Berlin’s educational landscape.

The festive conclusion of the project took place on 17 July 2025, when 60 pupils and teachers from the two project schools – Carl-Friedrich-von-Siemens-Gymnasium and Gustav-Falke-Grundschule – presented their work. This year, the pupils explored topics such as the nervous system, the solar system, and animals, using investigative, creative and participatory learning methods. The final projects were presented by the pupils in the Dinosaur Hall of the Museum für Naturkunde.

The project established a diverse educational ecosystem that brought together education professionals, museum staff and pupils. Together, they developed science learning opportunities that linked to the school curriculum and enabled hands-on experiences. The pupils worked independently on STEM topics and contributed their own interests and ideas.

The project participants look back with pride on a growing network that extends far beyond the two partner schools. Even after the project’s conclusion, this network is set to continue as the foundation for further educational collaborations between schools and museums.

The Deutsche Telekom Stiftung supports the project Chancen bilden in Berlin as part of its nationwide programme Chancen bilden. The aim of the initiative is to connect schools and other educational actors in a city or region and to jointly develop STEM education opportunities for children and young people.
