In 2025, the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin recorded 737,918 visitors on site as well as more than 550,000 streams of its two successful podcasts Beats & Bones and Süßes oder Saurier. With this, the Leibniz Association research museum underlines its relevance as a central hub for science communication, education, and societal dialogue on nature and biodiversity.

With 737,918 visitors, the Museum für Naturkunde remained in 2025 a highly frequented cultural and scientific attraction in Berlin. At the same time, the museum’s digital reach demonstrates that interest in natural science topics extends far beyond the museum building itself.

The science podcast Beats & Bones, which presents the museum’s research in a contemporary and relatable way, achieved 215,967 streams. Beats & Bones has established itself as a fixture in science communication.

The family and knowledge podcast Süßes oder Saurier, which conveys complex topics in a playful and child-friendly manner, reached 335,256 streams.

Altogether, this results in well over one million contact points for nature — engaging audiences with topics such as evolution, biodiversity, climate change, and the relevance of scientific research.

“These figures clearly show that our exciting exhibitions and excellent science inspire people across all age groups and foster an understanding of nature as a shared responsibility,” says Director General Johannes Vogel. “Our goal is to make knowledge accessible and to spark enthusiasm for the diversity of life. Reaching more than one million people is a strong signal in this regard. Through our ongoing museum evolution, we will be able to engage people even more closely in the future and aim to welcome more than one million visitors on site in the long term.”
