Living artwork
Pollinator Pathmaker
Pollinator Pathmaker is a living artwork for pollinating insects by artist Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg on the forecourt. In the project we offer guided tours and workshops on insects in the city, wild bee protection and sustainable garden design.

Annual Report 2022
The Museum für Naturkunde reviews the year 2022. The return of T. rex Tristan Otto, the new special exhibition "Dinosaurs!" as well as the campaign "Safeguarding Nature!" illustrate our ambitions to provide science-based, democratic solutions and alliances for a climate-compatible, biodiversity-friendly and equitable civilisation.

Book publication
Prussian Kunstkammer
Research cooperation between the MfN, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the National Museums in Berlin publishes results of the DFG-funded project "The Window on Nature and Art. A historical-critical reappraisal of the Brandenburg-Prussian Kunstkammer".

Paleontology
BROMACKER
The project combines paleo research and science communication at the excavation site in the UNESCO Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen, at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, at the Stiftung Schloss Friedenstein Gotha.

Knowledge transfer
TheMuseumsLab
In the international cooperation "TheMuseumsLab", African and European museum staff jointly develop concepts for the future of museums in Africa and Europe. The project promotes mutual learning, exchange and training.

Paleontology
PALEONILE
In the large-scale systematic paleontological project, interdisciplinary research on the paleontology of the Nile Basin in Sudan is conducted together with Al Neelain University in Khartoum. This knowledge about the recent past can help solving research questions of the present and future.

Provenance
Provenance research under the spotlight
The project creates a digital Edition of the Annual Reports of the Museum 1887-1915 and 1928-1938. This can be used, for example, for the assessment of colonial objects in the collections.

Paleobotany
Amber forests
In the project we examine plant inclusions in amber, to identify them and to draw conclusions about their ecosystems. These objects help us to understand distribution patterns and morphological evolution of plant families

Bürger schaffen Wissen
Together with Wissenschaft im Dialog, we operate buergerschaffenwissen.de, the central online platform for citizen science in Germany. More than 130 projects from a wide range of disciplines currently invite people to participate in research.

Collection
Transcription Workshop
Learn to read old German manuscripts and transfer historical documents from the archive of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin into modern script. Only in this way historical documents can be made accessible for further research.

Changing Natures. Collecting the Anthropocene Together
What do everyday objects and personal memories tell us about environmental change? Which personal items reflect the human impact on nature for you? "Changing Natures" is a digital, participatory collection experiment on the Anthropocene.
Evolution of the museum
The Museum für Naturkunde Berlin is redeveloping itself. The historic building on Invalidenstraße is becoming a 21st century museum that opens its collection to the world: a place of research and safeguarding, of discovery and democracy!
