Press release,

This afternoon saw a particularly large number of visitors at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, as all namesakes of our tyrannosaurus TRISTAN OTTO and their families were given free entry. Among them was 31-year-old Tristan Weigel, a software developer from Berlin Friedrichshain, who was welcomed by Director General, Prof. Johannes Vogel (left), and Managing Director Stephan Junker (centre) as the one-millionth visitor at the exhibition. He was presented with a book about TRISTAN and a season ticket for the Museum.

“I never knew that Tristan is such a popular name“, said Director General Johannes Vogel, when a group photo with 16 people named Tristan was taken in front of TRISTAN OTTO the T. rex. “Like no other exhibit, this tyrannosaurus managed to raise the enthusiasm for science in all age groups.”

The Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity Research has been showing this amazing original skeleton since December 17th 2015. Among international experts, it is thought to be a unique find. State-of-the-art technology is used to carry out research on it. The first results have come in, but have not been published yet and therefore cannot yet be shared with the public. Scientists gained new insight into the anatomy of the jaws, in particular the renewal of teeth, based on the well preserved status of the fossils and the use of computing tomography. An explanation has also been found for the pathological changes in Tristan Otto’s lower left jaw.
